Chairman of the panel, Rasak Balogun said as the Chairman of the Committee, he has powers to modify the Speaker’s declaration. Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has said the state is working to ensure that every Lagosian would be able to afford a home. The governor said government would soon unfold a mortgage scheme, which would allow people, who pay a 30 percent deposit for a home to own it, by paying over some years. Residents of Ishefun community in the week relocated to Government House, Alausa, insisting Governor Babatunde Fashola must address them. The Ishefun people alleged that officials of the Lagos State Government demolished their buildings in November and thereafter re-allocated the lands to themselves. Report says 3 vessels were over the week grounded at the sea shore between Lekki and Ikate Beach, with over 20 crew on board. The ships were reportedly to have sailed from Apapa Wolf and loaded with diesel. The vessels and its crew were said to have being on the sea shore for two days. Cyber Café operators in Lagos have called on the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the incessant scarcity of fuel in the country. The operators said the fuel scarcity had grossly affected their businesses. Some of them, who spoke to our correspondent, accused some filling stations of hoarding the fuel. Authorities of the University of Lagos have approved the return of students’ union activities to the campus seven years, after they were banned. A lecturer at the university, Osezua Ehiyamen, who made this known, noted that the move was to allow students to organize themselves and also inculcate leadership qualities in them. |
